Mrs. Kirsten Lombardo
I am a graduate of the University of Georgia and hold my Bachelor's Degree in
Social Studies Education. While I have been teaching for six years, this is my fourth year teaching social studies at Duluth High School and there's no place I'd rather be! When I'm not teaching, I love to travel. Anywhere and everywhere. I also love to cook :) My husband, Zach, and I have been married for three years and have an adorable yellow lab named Lucy. Here at Duluth, I coach the JV Basketball cheerleading squad, as well as the Mock Trial team. My passion is U.S. History and my goal is to make history come alive in the classroom. I strive to maintain a challenging, yet exciting, work environment and am really looking forward to an exciting year working with each of you! |

"What's going on in the news today?!" I've been kicking off my classes with this question for the last six years and this year will be no exception! Keeping up with current events is critical to you success in my U.S. History class, because in order to understand the present, you must understand the past!
I'm incredibly passionate about history and completed both my bachelor's and master's degrees in the subject at Georgia State University. That said, truth is of the upmost importance when I present curriculum and research and debate are an integral part of my classes. Prior to my career in education, I was a professional musician for seven years and worked myself through college as a waiter in some of Atlanta's top restaurants. I sponsor Musicians' Workshop here at Duluth High School and I'm still very active in historical research and writing. Mr. David Kendrick |
Welcome to U.S. History! This is my thirteenth year teaching
in Georgia but my first, not only at Duluth High School but in the high school
setting, as I have taught eighth grade Georgia History prior to coming here.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University, which I used to be a private investigator for a few years. I always wanted to be a teacher of history, so I went to the University of Georgia and graduated with a Masters Degree in Social Studies Education. In addition, I have earned a Specialist Degree in Education from the University of Georgia.
After school, I will be the 9th Grade Boys Basketball Head Coach and the Assistant Boys Varsity Basketball Coach, so I am looking forward to an exciting season. When I have free time, I am a Civil War nut and my idea of fun is to trek up and down battlefields with my favorite being Gettysburg, PA. I have been married to my wife, Molly, for seven years and we still live in Athens, home of the Bulldogs. We have 2 dogs, Murphy (a basset hound/beagle mix) and Harrison (a Yorkie).
I love our nation’s history and love to teach students about it. I hope that we have a great year as we experience U.S. History together!

What kind of support can I offer my students in this ever-changing world?
What does any person seek, knowledge. Students want a teacher who is close to them, "in on" their difficulties, their failures and their victories. It is at these times, I feel honored as a teacher. When a student is seeking my advice; they want me to know the magnitude of the challenges they are facing. Working in collaboration with my D.H.S. peers and administration, I will establish in my students that knowledge aids them emotionally as well as intellectually. Because of that, they can become more confident and contribute in a positive way in this ever-shrinking world. My students often ask me why I want to teach? I want to teach so I can take my education and myself, present it to a group of students and make them want to learn as I did. I want to teach because wanting to do something makes one do that something the best they can and I owe my students that and more. Have a great school year!!! GO CATS!!!!!!! |
